Dog training locally

My 11 month old puppy and I need some obedience training and socialization with other dogs. Instead of individually driving into town (E.G., R.C., Sac., Galt, etc.) to one of the big Pet stores for instruction, are there enough other folks that would like to have classes locally?
Are weekends or weekdays better for those interested?
